How You Can Get Involved

How can a small group of motivated people have any impact on the conditions that are changing the Earth's climate? At KyotoUSA, we are deeply committed to demonstrating that it is possible for all of us to make significant contributions to the reduction of climate altering greenhouse gas emissions.

To date, KyotoUSA has helped school districts install more than 26 MW of solar. That translates into a reduction of about 6,500 tons of CO2 each year! We are learning that getting your electricity from renewable sources also reduces the amount of water needed to produce electricity from conventional sources- a real important benefit for the state of California that is experiencing its worst drought in recorded history.

Establishing a Community Choice Energy program is the single most effective way for a city or county to reduce its GHGs from electricity. Nothing else comes close. In almost all cases, the willingness of a city or county to consider CCE has come from the encouragement of local residents, labor, environmental groups, and businesses.

If you are interested in exploring the possbility of seeing solar go up at your school district or would like to encourage your local elected officials to consider a CCE program, contact us and we'll work with you to make it happen!
